Hogmanay 2009/10 offers loads of free music options for revellers.
Well we all know that Madness is headlining the Concert in the Gardens with fantastic support from The Noisettes and Codeine Velvet Club - but this is a paid event with tickets costing upwards of GBP30 each. What about the rest of us on a budget?
Fear not because the Hogmanay organising committee has provided for all with a number of free performances that really pack a punch.
80,000 party-goers from Scotland and all across the globe will converge on Edinburgh to join together in Princes Street for EDINBURGHS HOGMANAY STREET PARTY to celebrate the New Year against the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh and the Old Town on the evening of 31st December 2009.
On the Waverley Stage The Enemy will be accompanied by some of Scotlands coolest young bands including the 5-piece Glasgow based Frightened Rabbit, the fantastic new Edinburgh band Stanley Odd whose rap music appeals to jazz junkies, funk fans and hip-hop headz alike and the ambitious and bold Edinburgh based 4-piece We Were Promised Jet Packs. The Waverley Stage will be hosted by special guest DJ, BBC Radio Scotlands Vic Galloway.
The West End DJ Stage will feature rare performances from Scotlands favourite DJ Mylo and sets from Snow Patrols front man, Gary Lightbody & Tom Simpson and Belle and Sebastians Richard Colburn with host VJ Barony.
The Mound Stage will feature the glam pop music, kick-ass acrobatic dance moves and outrageous personas of Glitter Banditz and crazy Caribbean funsters The Cuban Brothers, with host Edinburghs cheestastic DJ king of pop The Great Calverto.
Revellers will burl through the bells at an open air ceilidh, THE KEILIDH featuring a top ceilidh-dancin line-up of the best in traditional Scottish music from Ceilidhdonia, Hugh Macdiarmids Haircut & Watergaw.
There really is something for everyone at this years Hogmanay Festival with a superb line-up of artists offering a variety of musical talents previously unseen at this most brilliant of events.
